I’ve just spent the last few weeks redesigning an old typeface I did last year, BAQ Rounded. I’ve spent a lot of time correcting every imperfection, kink, and angle. I’m slowly building up a collection, and some other collections from other designers to launch a type site hopefully by the start of next year. Baq is now available in two styles, BAQ Rounded, and also BAQ Outline. For rolling paper company OCB’s clothing label Black Thinking, Cisma (Denis Kamioka) directed “The Fly and the Eye”, a comically surreal short that’s equal parts Hitchcock and Alice in Wonderland.
As a web-only project, Cisma was able to play with the bounds of the video frame to his heart’s content, giving him ample room for some grin-worthy gags.
The making of video gives you a glimpse into some of the trickery involved. Looks like it was a fun shoot.

We at North Kingdom where invited to the APTM4 conference in Tokyo recently (big thanks to Yosuke Kurita). It was very inspiring meeting guys like Even Roth from Graffiti Research Lab, the cool guys at SemiTransparent Design, Abe-san & CO at Ogilvy Tokyo among others. We also visited the “Now Updating…” exhibition by Yugo Nakamura and Tha Ltd. Amazing stuff! I love Tokyo!
