For rolling paper company OCB’s clothing label Black Thinking, Cisma (Denis Kamioka) directed “The Fly and the Eye”, a comically surreal short that’s equal parts Hitchcock and Alice in Wonderland. As a web-only project, Cisma was able to play with the bounds of the video frame to his heart’s content, giving him ample room for some grin-worthy gags. The making of video gives you a glimpse into some of the trickery involved. Looks like it was a fun shoot. Sound Design by Combustion.

Right when NIN started its tour around the globe, I’ve following it thru videos on youtube, and when NIN announced that they would come to São Paulo, I bought the ticket in the same second. After you read about how the show is, I think you would buy it too if they come to your city. Trent Reznor is truly inspiring.

When it comes to Poland, the first studio that appears on my mind is Ars Thanea. Their creativity and originality is above the others. That can be verified with their recent update, with works for Redd’s, Martini and BenQ.

Sean Dunne’s documentary about Paul Mawhinney, the largest vinyl collector on earth, is intriguing. The devotion of a man threw on garbage thanks to technology and lack of care of people about the medium that made music available for everyone. Probably the new wave of vinyl adorers will help this guy and his archive.

The idea of the project was born when Lorenzo Fonda realized that he was such a big fan of Blus art that he felt everyone should know about it. Being Lorenzo a film director, it was natural that the medium of choice to portray the artist work would have been the documentary form. After managing to convince crazy italian production company Mercurio that this was an even crazier but worthwhile project, they decided to hop on a plane and travel on the other side of the world, with the precise intent to explore how such different cultures and lifestyles would influence and inspire Blus art. They crossed Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Argentina with just the aid of some guides and a few contacts with friends and local artists here and there. What came out was un unscripted film about improvisation, inspiration (and perspiration), innovation, self-exploration and all the other good things in life that end with -ion. This film is now going to be shown on several places. Check out the screenings.

The Brazilian studio Animatório is a young studio, but already have some excellent works under its name. Brazil being a place with difficult access to grow with motion graphics (yes, even tho you guys know some Brazilian agencies, it’s a hard place), the people from Animatório has been doing a wonderful job and they are a name to be watched. They already received awards from Adobe and have been featured on STASH DVDs.
